Rosey Grier

Rosey Grier played tackle for the Rams and the Giants and was a member of the "Fearsome Foursome." Off the field he worked in needlepoint, and he published "Rosey Grier's Needlepoint for Men" in 1973. He even made appearances on TV to promote male crafting. It's a wonderful book and has chapters for "the sportsman", "the ladies in your life", and "just for you."
The caption reads, "Me, with most of my menagerie. I may be too old to sleep with a panda, but I sure can needlepoint one."

Postage Paid

My friend Ellen sent me an incredible package. Of all the goodies inside, this mixtape and this tag were my favorites. It's a machine embroidery of a Russian stamp from the 70's. Noyta means "postage" in Russian.

Marushka

My parents bought this silk screen by Marushka years ago. It reminds me so much of family trips to Maine.

"Marushka, a design and silk screen textile manufacturing company, was founded in Spring Lake, Michigan, in 1972 by Phyllis Gifford and Dick Sweet. the name “Marushka” means “Mary” in Polish." - unruly things

a Whale of a Tale

I love the majestic size and weight of whales, and I made an animation about one while in school. I stitched this last summer when I was considering getting a tattoo of a whale on my right shoulder. I still haven't gotten it yet, but perhaps this will be the summer.

"I am decided. Sword, I name thee Brisingr! And with a sound like rushing wind, the blade burst into fire, and envelope of sapphire-blue flames writhing about the razor-sharp steel."
